since i'm going to korea on friday and my digital camera needs to be charged once a day or it won't work, i thought i should check online to check which level of voltage korea uses. folks, i am baffled by this. i don't know why i had never googled this before. i remember being stunned when i found out from katie johnson that taiwan was also 100-120V (same as the states), after blowing up two hairdryers in england and having ZERO luck with voltage converters in other places in europe and in china. so, when i found out that the ROC was compatible with the homeland, i thought it was awesome. but it never occured to me to check and see how it compares with other countries in the region...until now. i mean, look at this map! that little orange dot amidst all that blue and teal. who knew? and the phillippines, land of all things american, isn't orange! anyway, once again...another reason why taiwan is my JAM. seriously, i'm thankful for this, it makes living here easier. but i don't get it. why? anyway, korea is 220-240V. :( oh well. guess i'll have to stock up on regular batteries.
Hi Beth, this is Jenn =) The voltage map is pretty interesting!
ReplyDeleteDont get me started on voltages and the lack-there-of of unity within our world. Yep, I think it's shockingly embarassing and utterly ridiculous; although, it does make for interesting traveling, you know, a wee bit more adventurous.
