mad hot ballroom

i finally watched mad hot ballroom! i'd heard such good things about this movie, so i knew it was going to be good, even though i'm usually not into documentaries. my bible study student let me borrow it so i watched it with a few friends last night. it's soo cute! i forgot how good kids' english can be. (even though a lot of the kids in the movie are second language speakers!) anyway, i highly recommend it.

by the way, the title in chinese is so cute - it's a play on words - which seems to happen a lot when they translate movie titles here. the title in chinese is "kuai le wu nian ji" -- which literally means "happy dancing grade" but the "wu" (which means dance) is a homophone for another "wu" that means five. so it also sounds like "happy fifth grade," which, of course, is the grade that all the kids in the movie are in.
